Unexpected

Was not expecting to meet a group like this at a waterfall.

Thank you for the very warm welcome back and messages from old friends and new. Yes the treatment was long and horrendous at times but I'm through the worst of it. Have a bit to go yet but it's a doodle compared to the past 10 months. Have been told to expect it to take up to two years before my energy is back to normal levels.

Relaxing

I'm back! However like this cat I'm taking it easy as 10 months of intensive treatment has taken it's toll. But also like this cat I'm enjoying every moment now.

This was taken on a diversion we took on our way up to see my family last week.

Thanks to everyone for their support over the past months. I appreciate it very much.

Today would have been my Dad's 85th birthday if he hadn't passed away suddenly 5 years ago. I still miss him. He would have loved this scene.

Cruisin'

Due to a completely wet day I didn't get out to photograph. This is from my last trip up home. The hill is called The Sleeping Warrior. The boat is cruising in Lough Gill which is where The Lake Isle of Inisfree is for those of you familiar with William Butler Yeats' poetry.

Thanks to everyone for all their views, comments and thumbs up during the week.

Day 149: July 11, 2010
A Forge with a view

The forge, well and corner of stables within the courtyard of Parke's Castle. The name of the lough is Lough Gill which was one of William Butler Yeats (1865-1939), Nobel Prize winning Irish dramatist, author and poet's favourite places. Day 98: May 30, 2010

Thanks to everyone for their views, thumbs up and comments on the first two of the series.

This is the view of the castle from the car park. It is a restored plantation castle of the early 17th century. Entry only costs €3.00 or €2 if you are a senior. There is a 40 minute guided tour and a 20 minute video presentation included in the price of admission. Photography allowed!

Day 97: May 29, 2010
Lough Gill

On my journey back from Donegal on Sunday I took a diversion to explore a castle. This was my first glimpse of it...bottom right. Over the next few days I hope to bring you on a tour of the castle through my daily posts.

Lough Gill is a large lake, nearly six and a half miles long and two and a half miles wide. There is public access to the lough from a pier on the south shore at the mouth of the Garvoge River, at Inishfree Pier and at Shriff Bay. Lough Gill holds browntrout and salmon. Extract from http://www.lookaroundireland.com/scenicinteractive/loughgill.htm
