A Forge with a view The forge, well and corner of stables within the courtyard of Parke's Castle. The name of the lough is Lough Gill which was one of William Butler Yeats (1865-1939), Nobel Prize winning Irish dramatist, author and poet's favourite places. Lough Gill On my journey back from Donegal on Sunday I took a diversion to explore a castle. This was my first glimpse of it...bottom right. Over the next few days I hope to bring you on a tour of the castle through my daily posts. Lough Gill is a large lake, nearly six and a half miles long and two and a half miles wide.There is public access to the lough from a pier on the south shore at the mouth of the Garvoge River, at Inishfree Pier and at Shriff Bay.
