My Treasured Photos

Ballysaggartmore Towers

Continue up the driveway from the Gateway http://www.mcdonegal1.com/Daily-Photo/A-Photo-A-Day/11279122_sNtgD#867349565_S6VPs we come to the towers. They were built to cross a small stream! No wonder the money ran out so no grand castle was ever built. From my archives last month. Took lots of shots but still found it difficult to make this pop more. Hubby suggested that it was all the badness associated with its construction was making it difficult to capture! History at http://www.liosmor.com/thetowers.html

Day 88 May 16, 2010

Raining this morning :-((
Ballysaggartmore Gates.

Built during the famine in Ireland in the late 1840s. The extravagant gates were the only part of the castle to be built as money ran out soon after their completion. There is also towers over a steam which I will post tomorrow .
Due to a very long work day yesterday and work again today I have raided my archives from last month.

For a more detail history of the gates and towers I suggest http://www.liosmor.com/thetowers.html
