Ballinacourty Lighthouse

Established on 1st July 1858. The light was converted to acetylene operation in 1929. Electrification of the light took place on 12th February 1964. The present light source comprises a cluster of 4 x 35W halogen lamps and was installed during the 2005-06 re-equip of the station.

It is a small lighthouse as its tower isonly 13 metres(42.6ft) and 16 metres(52.5ft) with the light.

There's always some Light

Thank you for all your support during this most difficult year for me. having spent it battling cancer I am looking forward to recovering during 2013 and continuing to take care of Phill. Missed yesterday as I have picked up a nasty tummy bug and an infection in my belly button. Feeling a lot more human today :)

Blue Pool

This was across the road from our hotel in Glengarriff. Taken on our first evening there. It is also where we got the ferry out to Garnish Island the following morning. Thankfully for me the ferry was a little larger than this boat :))

thanks to everyone for all their comments and thumbs up on yesterday's shot of Ireland's most Colourful Village.

Dreams

When we grow up we'll be Tall Ships too.

Continuing the theme as the Tall Ships approach.

I was so excited yesterday as I got word the one of my photos has been short-listed in a photo competition. It is the first time I have ever dared entered. If it is selected it will appear in a 2012 calendar. it has been in my animal gallery for some time

Sunny Sunday Sailing

OK they are not sailing but it was a glorious sunny morning yesterday as the fog cleared. The stillness and quiet was fantastic. The men's voices floated on the air.

Thank you for all the comments, stars and thumbs up last week. Wishing every one of you a fabulous week with lots of photo ops.
