mcdonegal1 > Rushes

While technically a wild flower they are the bane of landowners who call them invasive weeds. These were shot up at the wind turbines.

Soft Rush (Juncus effusus) Geataire Family: Juncaceae

Flowering July-August. Perennial. Native. For more info on these native Irish Wild flowers see http://www.irishwildflowers.ie/pages-rushes/r-07.html

Day 171: Aug 7, 2010
mcdonegal1 > A Forest of .......

This is part of Glengesh Pass between Carrick and Ardara in Donegal Ireland. It is magnificent in its wilderness. Trees have to be cultivated there.

A few asked about the wind turbine yesterday...It is one of 6.

Thank you all for the lovely welcome back.

Day 170: Aug 6, 2010
mcdonegal1 > On Top

My sister and I hiked up the path to the top of Maol na nDamh (Mulnanaff) 473m (1552ft). It is the first time in 4 trips that the sun was out. The view was well worth the effort. I liked how the wind turbine appears to be in the middle of the roadway.

Over the next few days I will catch up with all your photos that I missed while away.

Day 169: Aug 5.2010
mcdonegal1 > Donegal Carpets

This is part of the original building of 1898 where Donegal Carpets were hand crafted. My mum worked there as a young lady. It is now sub divided into a number of units. For a history http://www.donegalcarpets.eu/history.php.

Last of the Killybegs shots for now. Thank you all for the views and comments on my hometown shots these past few days. It means a lot to me.

Day 95: May 25, 2010
mcdonegal1 > Eternal Dawn

One of the smaller trawlers in the harbour last week back in Killybegs. It is 23m (74.5ft) in length.

If anyone wants a brief history of my hometown of Killybegs there is some info at http://www.killybegs.ie/news.htm

Day 94: May 26, 2010

Thanks to everyone for all the views and comments on my post for yesterday and for giving it the honour of being number 1. I am humbled and thrilled!
mcdonegal1 > Resting

My hometown of Killybegs from a different angle. The tide is out as is most of the fishing fleet. Taken in the evening.

mcdonegal1 > My Hometown

I am back and over the next few days will begin to catch up. A section of my hometown while the tide is out. I had a great time with family.

mcdonegal1 > Even on a dull day there can be light.

It was grey, cold and wet all day yesterday. This is from my archives. Taken back in November when on a visit to Dongeal.
